Beginning

Here I begin, without any sense of audience, as if warming up at a microphone in front of an empty hall.

Here I step back from writing fiction to explore the art and process of storytelling.

Here I create a writing routine, and share with others the things that inspire me.

This impulse to begin comes to me from wonderful people who love books: teachers and librarians, family and friends. It comes from the work of writers past and present. It comes from people who champion the sharing of words and of worlds on the printed page.

I am here to add my voice to their voices. I am here to join in the fun.
